The College of Science is a community of scholars, educators, researchers, and students dedicated to expanding knowledge, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities through science. Our mission is grounded in excellence in education, research, and service, and in preparing students to make meaningful contributions to their professions and communities.
Our students learn from outstanding faculty who are not only committed teachers, but also active researchers pushing the frontiers of discovery. Across the biological, physical, mathematical, and computational sciences, College of Science researchers are addressing important challenges in human health, the environment, energy, materials, and data-driven technologies. Through this work, our faculty are advancing scientific knowledge while creating opportunities for students to engage directly in research and discovery.
As a research-intensive college within a public university, we believe that scientific discovery and student success are mutually reinforcing goals. Research is not separate from education, research strengthens education. By participating in laboratories, field studies, computational research, and other scholarly activities, our students develop the skills, creativity, and resilience needed to thrive in graduate school, professional programs, industry, education, and public service.
